Description
#14 x 1" Phillips Pan Head Self-Tapping Sheet Metal Screw - Zinc Plated
Zinc-plated steel self-tapping screw that cuts its own thread as it drives - no tap, no nut, no insert. The pan head seats flat with a wide bearing surface, and the Phillips #3 recess keeps the driver centered under torque. Drill a 3/16" pilot hole and drive.
Specifications
- Size: #14 (#14-10 thread)
- Length: 1"
- Head: Pan head, Phillips #3 drive
- Point: Type A self-tapping
- Material: Steel, zinc plated (corrosion resistant)
- Fully threaded, sold individually - bulk pricing available
Type A point: coarse, widely spaced threads with a sharp gimlet point that bites instantly into thin sheet metal, wood, and soft plastic.
Best For
Ideal for license plates and plate brackets, heavy brackets, bumpers, and thick sheet metal. Works in sheet metal, plastic, and wood.
How to Install
Drill a 3/16" pilot hole in sheet metal (skip the pilot in soft plastic or thin wood), set your driver to a Phillips #3 bit, and drive until the pan head seats flush. Don't overtighten in thin gauge - stop when snug so the threads don't strip.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a self-tapping screw?
It cuts its own thread as it drives - no tap, no nut, no insert. Type A has a coarse sharp point for thin metal and wood; Type AB adds tighter thread spacing for metal, plastic, and wood.
What pilot hole should I drill?
The recommended pilot for this size is in the specs table. Drill it in sheet metal; skip the pilot in soft plastic or thin wood.
Will these rust?
They are zinc plated for corrosion resistance in indoor and sheltered use. For constant outdoor exposure or marine use, ask us about stainless alternatives.
