The 4" hole grommet gives a 3-1/2" opening, a large protective lining for duct, hose and cable pass-throughs in enclosures and bulkheads. Every grommet in this collection fits a 4" hole. Openings (inside diameter) here are 3-1/2"; groove widths are 3/16".

Picking the right one. The hole size is fixed by your drill or hole saw, so start there, then match the groove width to the thickness of the panel: a groove equal to or slightly wider than the material lets the grommet snap in and hold. Next, check that the inside diameter clears the widest part of whatever passes through, including plugs and fittings. Rubber grommets flex enough to work into the hole by hand; a drop of soapy water helps with thick grooves.
